Madeleine discovers rapture while counting down her periods. Hawkey knows if you lie to your psychologist, you are still telling the truth. And Tommy is a killer.
Through the eyes of its flawed characters, and clipped acerbic prose Doing Life in Paradise exposes the absurdity of life and dependence on hope to find meaning within life’s disinterest. But how can life in a city called Paradise feel anything but cruelly ironic, how can it not be anything but a life sentence?
The novel explores the peculiar places life can take us, while exposing the curious strategies we each employ in order to survive.

"Doing Life in Paradise is one of the most interior and closely held narratives I've read in a long time. Though it is much about character development, there is also a real and present plot that draws the characters into an air-tight network surrounding a common trauma. The effects of the traumaare as unique as each of the characters. The writing is excellent; the language boldly honest and uncensored. The story itself is deeply moving and well organized as a post-modern pastiche, split between the tortured psyches of each affected character. I recommend it highly for all but the faint of heart."
